As a Catholic, Jesuit University, Marquette Sorority and Fraternity Life serves the University Mission with integrity and aspires for excellence while respecting the dignity and diversity of its members. Our Sorority and Fraternity Life community exists to enhance the lives of individuals by raising awareness and serving the needs of Marquette University and the greater Milwaukee community. Through the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood, Marquette Sorority and Fraternity Life strives to strengthen its members through scholarship, leadership, and service.

Planning a Sorority and Fraternity Life Event

Please utilize this website as a guide to planning a successful event. We ask that you are mindful of not only paperwork procedures and deadlines, but also the risk management policy guidelines that are set in place to help your chapter host a safe event!

Plan a House Event

Step 1: Complete a Social Event Registration Form

The Social Event Registration Form must be completed and returned to the Office of Engagement and Inclusion in AMU Room 121 by 4:30 p.m. at least seven business days prior to the event.


Step 2: Complete the Risk Assessment Form

Complete this form at least five days before your event.


Step 3: Complete a Social Event Invitation List

Section I of the Social Event Invitation List must be completed and returned to the Office of Engagement and Inclusion in AMU 121 by 4:30 p.m. at least two business days prior to the event. A photocopy of the list will be made and a copy will be provided to the sponsoring organization(s) for completion of Section II at the event.


Step 4: Review the Risk Management Procedures

Be sure to review the risk management policies and procedures outlined below.


Step 5: Enjoy Your Event!

Be sure to have guests complete and sign Section II of the Social Event Invitation List as they arrive to your event. For all events, members can list a “guest” on the Invitation List provided. The “guest” will print and sign their name on Section II of the Invitation List at the time of the event.


Step 6: Return Your Fully Completed and Signed Social Event Invitation List

The fully completed Social Event Invitation List must be returned to the Office of Engagement and Inclusion in AMU Room 121 by 4:30 p.m. one business day following the event.

Plan an Off-Campus Event

Step 1: Complete an Office of Engagement and Inclusion Event Registration Form

The Office of Engagement and Inclusion Event Registration Form must be completed at least two weeks prior to the event.


Step 2: Complete a Third Party Vendor Responsibility Form

For third party vendor events, the chapter must turn in the Marquette University Third Party Vendor Responsibility Form (available in the CLSI) and proof of insurance to the Office of Engagement and Inclusion in AMU 121 by 4:30 p.m. at least 2 weeks prior to the event.


Step 3: Complete a Social Event Registration Form

The Social Event Registration Form must be completed and returned to the Office of Engagement and Inclusion in AMU Room 121 by 4:30 p.m. at least seven business days prior to the event.


Step 4: Complete the Risk Assessment Form

Risk Management Policy

The purpose of our Risk Management Policy is three-fold:

  1. To promote the safety and well-being of the students involved in Sorority and Fraternity Life at Marquette University
  2. To allow the Sorority and Fraternity Life system at Marquette to be self-governed
  3. To ensure collaboration and support between both councils and the university
