External sharing overview

If you want to share the entire site or library:

Users outside of Marquette must use a Microsoft account. Please refer to SharePoint Online Instructions for Users Outside Marquette. As site administrator, you need a person’s Microsoft account address to grant them access to the Marquette SharePoint Online site. When you give them access, SharePoint will send an email to the person’s Microsoft account email with a link to the site, document library, folder, or document.

Note: if you share a file or folder with an anonymous link, anyone with the link can view or edit the document.
