Joseph A. Walicki was elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 2017.

Joe enjoyed a highly successful 31-year career at Johnson Controls, a Fortune 500 conglomerate that produces energy storage solutions and building technologies.

Joe spent his first 25 years at JCI in the Building Technology division, where he served in various roles of increasing responsibility in sales, operations and general management. In his last role in the Building Technology division, Joe would serve as group vice president and general manager, Systems, Services, and Solutions, North America.

In 2014, Joe was promoted to president of JCI’s $7.3 billion Power Solutions division (now Clarios) — the world’s largest battery company, serving customers in 150 countries. As president he was responsible for all aspects of the global business, led the advancement of energy storage technologies and advocated globally for sound energy and environmental policies. Beginning in late 2018, Joe led the strategic review and carve out of the Power Solutions division to Brookfield Business Partners. The successful sale to Brookfield Business Partners culminated in April 2019. Joe was the first CEO and vice chairman of the new company Clarios until he retired on January 1, 2020.   

Joe holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University and a Master of Business Administration from LaSalle University.
