Rev. James Pribek, S.J.

Rev. James Pribek, S.J., is the acting vice president for mission and ministry.  He joined Marquette in July 2021 as the assistant vice president for that office.

Prior to Marquette, he served at Creighton University as an associate professor in the English department from 2018-21, and before that, he taught at Canisius College in Buffalo for 14 years, earning tenure. In both roles, Father Pribek led Ignatian formation programs similar to the Marquette Colleagues Program.

Father Pribek will also serve as superior of the Marquette Jesuit community beginning in summer 2026. He was appointed to this role by the Superior General of the Society of Jesus.

A scholar of Irish literature, Father Pribek has an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, as well as a master’s degree in English from Gonzaga University and two master’s degrees from the Weston Jesuit School of Theology. After he was ordained, he earned master’s and doctorate degrees in Anglo-Irish literature and drama from University College Dublin.
