COVID-19 Update

Due to the university’s transition to online learning and working in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Title IX Office has moved its operations offsite until further notice. It is important for all students, faculty and staff to remember that, even during this unprecedented time, the university still must comply with Title IX and the Marquette University Interim Sexual Harassment and Sex Discrimination Policy. We recognize that members of our community may experience sexual misconduct through online interactions as well as in modified living and working situations. Please know that we are committed to continuous service during this challenging time and we are available to work with you via phone, email, and other remote communications technology. Although our community will look and feel different for a while, our commitment to provide a safe and supportive living and learning environment remains the same.

Interim Sexual Harassment and Sex Discrimination Policy

"No person in the United States, shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and its implementing regulation at 34 C.F.R. Part 106 (Title IX).

Marquette is committed to fostering a learning environment that is safe, conducive to academic success, and supportive of healthy personal development for all members of the campus community. Everyone on Marquette’s campus shares responsibility for maintaining this environment by following university policies and exemplifying respect for others as communicated through our Statement on Human Dignity and Diversity.

In accordance with Title IX, and consistent with Marquette’s commitment to human dignity, no sex or gender discrimination will be tolerated. When an incident of harassment, discrimination or sexual misconduct (occurring on or off campus) is reported to an appropriate Marquette official, the university will respond immediately to stop the discrimination, remedy its effects, and prevent its reoccurrence. Students and employees who retaliate against individuals who report such conduct will be subject to disciplinary action.

Title IX Coordinator

Marquette’s Title IX Coordinator Kristen Kreple is the university official responsible for coordinating Marquette’s efforts to comply with Title IX and all associated regulations, including the investigation of complaints falling under the university’s Title IX Sexual Harassment, Discrimination and Sexual Misconduct Policy. The Title IX coordinator oversees and is supported by four deputy Title IX coordinators.

To report an incident of sexual harassment (including stalking and sexual assault) or sex discrimination involving a Marquette University student, faculty, staff or visitor , contact the Title IX coordinator or any deputy Title IX coordinators.
