Peer Review in D2L

I. Getting Started

Before using groups in PlayPosit Peer Review ensure that:

  • You have created and each learner has launched at least one PlayPosit bulb within your D2L Course (this is a necessary step in order for the learners to be available for PlayPosit groups)
  • You have created group sets and groups in PlayPosit
  • Each learner in your D2L course belongs to a group within the group set
  • If you need a bulb for learners to take quickly, copy this bulb and assign it to your D2L course.

II. Create PlayPosit Groups

Create Groupsets and Groups (Knowledge Base article here)

  • Click Classes and select the class to which you’re assigning the Peer Review Activity.
  • Click Learners
  • Click Groups
  • Add Group Set (All groups of learners exist within a group set, so you need to create the group set first).
  • Add Groups and drag learners into the desired group
  • Close Group window

III. Create a Peer Review Assignment  (Knowledgebase Article: Create a Peer Review Assignment)

From the My Bulbs page, click the dropdown arrow next to Add New Bulb and Select Add New Peer Review Assignment

  • Name your Assignment
  • Optionally add Learning Objectives/Instructions (PlayPosit automatically adds basic instructions upload video for feedback and then give feedback to group members
  • ENABLE PEER REVIEW

Settings

  • Optionally Enable grading Rubrics if you want learners to evaluate each other according to specific criteria.
  • Optionally select incomplete/complete grading if you wish to grade for completion only

IV. Assign Peer Review Activity in D2L (PlayPosit-D2L Knowledge Base Article)

Access your D2L course and follow bulb assigning workflow

  • Head to a course once logged into D2L
  • Navigate to a content page
  • Click Add Existing Activities
  • Select PlayPosit from the drop down menu. This will open a PlayPosit Setup page
  • Click Enter PlayPosit to access your account
  • Click Set Bulb Link to access your account
  • Select the dropdown menu and choose “Create Peer Review Assignment”
  • Set up your assignment with applicable settings
  • Select D2L icon to begin linking process

Using Groups

  • Enable Group Assignments if you have previously created PlayPosit Groups
  • Click Import Groups
  • You should see all group sets and groups within each groupset
  • Make any necessary edits
  • Or, create new groups at this point
  • Select LINK to finish

After Saving and publishing the D2L assignment, if you then launch it, you will see a gray screen with options to unlink the bulb, monitor the bulb, or enter PlayPosit.

Grading: Grading with a Rubric 

  • Preview a learner’s submission
  • Assign a grade, view feedback given by a learner and feedback received by the learner
  • Enter Grade Mode and assign a grade
  • Sync grades to D2L gradebook
 

Grading: Learner Experience

  • Each group member will be required to evaluate their peer submissions using the rubric and a discussion forum as well
