This year, Marquette is excited to host RISE virtually in four sessions. RISE is a free multicultural pre-orientation program for underrepresented first-year students. It will take place during the following Tuesdays from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM CDT.

  • July 13, 2021
  • July 27, 2021
  • August 10, 2021
  • August 24, 2021

To learn more about the programs on these dates, please see the sample schedule at this link.

Using Microsoft Teams, RISE will include an introduction to student mentors and various campus resources, services and offices.

We are also planning to convene during New Student Orientation. We will follow CDC and university guidelines in doing so. More information about this will be announced when available.

Pending the format of the academic year, the following programs will be available for students who participate in the two-day virtual sessions:

  • Workshops to develop skills and strategies for success in your first year and beyond
  • An opportunity to connect with fellow students, faculty and staff of color
  • Team building events and activities

Students will receive an individualized invitation to apply. If you are interested and do not receive an e-mail, please contact Zuleyka Rios, Assistant Director for Multicultural Recruitment, at zuleyka.rios@marquette.edu

Is this a free program?

Yes, this virtual program is free, and RISE continues to offer free programming throughout the academic year.

When may I expect to receive the Zoom link?

Students who have registered will receive a Zoom link in their Marquette email inbox on the day of session.

I have a conflict on one of the days of the virtual sessions. Can I still participate?

We strongly encourage students who are interested in RISE to attend all the sessions. Full participation in the program will allow students to gain a small cohort community. If you are unable to attend all of the sessions, contact information for the RISE mentor will be provided for follow up.

I still have more questions about RISE.  Who should I contact?

If you have questions about the program itself, please contact Clara Dwyer, Assistant Director in the Center for Engagement and Inclusion, at clara.dwyer@marquette.edu.

For questions concerning the registration process, please contact Zuleyka Rios, Assistant Director of Multicultural Recruitment, at zuleyka.rios@marquette.edu.
