RISE 2021 is a free multicultural pre-orientation program for underrepresented first-year students. It will take place Tuesdays, August 10 and 17 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM CDT and also have an in-person component for students who participate in the virtual programs. The date(s) of the in-person experience will be announced as it becomes available.

Using Microsoft Teams, RISE will include an introduction to student mentors and the Office of Engagement and Inclusion. Links to join the virtual sessions will be sent to students’ Marquette email addresses.

All sessions will be from 11 AM - 12:30 PM CST. The first portion of the sessions will include a presentation by a University department followed by an opportunity to break out into smaller groups to ask questions of RISE Mentors.

Meet the Office of Engagement and Inclusion Staff

Are you interested in joining a student organization, the multicultural student council, sorority or fraternity life, and other leadership program? Learn more during this session then have a chance to breakout into smaller groups to ask questions in a more personalized setting.

 

What happens during the in-person RISE program?

The in-person program has historically been an 3-day overnight program prior to University Orientation.  Sample programs during the three days of RISE include:

Gathering during University Orientation  

 We will convene the RISE students in accordance to the CDC and University guidelines during Orientation.  More information will be provided during the RISE sessions and to participants via their Marquette email.
