Peer Wellness Educators

Who are they?

Peer Wellness Educators (PWEs) are a team of students that create and present programming on health and wellness for the Marquette community.  

Why peer education?

Peer-to-peer education helps promote self-awareness, healthy choices and decision making, which can impact overall wellbeing. The PWEs also model appropriate attitudes and behaviors on different health issues to motivate students make positive health choices too. 

What do the PWEs do?

  • Encourage students to refelct on their attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors around making healthy life choices.
  • Promote attitudes and behaviors that creat the kind of cmapus wehre we all want to live and learn.
  • Educate students on a variety of health topics and preventative practices through programs, presentations, and activities.
  • Provide referral information on campus and community resources.
  • Offer information and resources on a variety of health topics through different outreach opportunties. 
  • Facilitate Red Watch Band trainings to first year and transfer students. 
  • Facilitate Bringing in the Bystander trainings to second year and transfer students.

  • Mental health awareness and stress management
  • Substance use prevention and harm reduction
  • Violence prevention and bystander intervention
  • Physical wellbeing
  • Connectedness and belonging
