I'm a Professor in the English Department, and I've been teaching at Marquette since 2001. I started as a peer tutor of writing when I was an undergrad student at Villanova University and continued as a graduate tutor at the University of Wisconsin Madison. I've been a Director or Co-Director in the Ott since 2010.

I'm a writing educator. My research, teaching, administrative work, and national professional leadership all support writing research, undergraduate research, and community building, especially in rhetoric and composition/ writing studies. I joined Marquette's English Department in 2011, and I joined the Ott in 2019 after directing the First-Year English Program.
Addison - Tutor
I am a junior majoring in Philosophy for Legal Professions with minors in Law and Society and Political Science. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I always say that my favorite book is Phantom of the Opera, but my favorite book is really Fancy Nancy. I also love working on philosophy papers and case studies. I am most familiar with MLA and APA citations.
Aidan - Tutor
I'm Aidan (she/her/hers)! I am a senior triple-majoring in environmental science, writing-intensive English, and philosophy. My main jam is science writing; so any lab reports, manuscripts, research/grant proposals, papers about scientific topics, etc... I'm your guy :). I also love writing about philosophy and literary analysis; I am always happy to work with any writer on any type of assignment!
Alex M. - Tutor
I am a sophomore majoring in cognitive sciences and love working with pieces of all types! My favorite pastimes are nintendo (specifically zelda and pokemon :)), and crafting in any medium. I most enjoy working with analytical or rhetorically-based pieces, but will always have a soft spot for the creatives. I like to focus not only on improving an assignment in itself, but improving the writer behind it so you can take skills you learn in the Ott and apply them to the rest of your work beyond the writing center.

My name is Alyssa, and I am a senior at Marquette majoring in political science with minors in Spanish, criminology, and a concentration in innovation and leadership. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I absolutely love reading historical fiction and mystery/suspense, and I also enjoy creative writing and argumentative pieces. Some of my favorite authors are Jane Austen, Taylor Jenkins Reid, and Kristin Hannah! Annie M. - Tutor
My name is Annie M. I'm a senior majoring in Psychology and Criminology and Law Studies! My pronouns are she/her/hers. My favorite books of all time are Looking for Alaska, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Before I Fall. I enjoy working on all kinds of writing. I am very familiar with APA citations (since I'm a PSYC major :)), but I'm also familiar with MLA, as well. Azaria - Tutor
I am a junior majoring in Political Science and Economics with minors in Public Policy and Writing Intensive English, and I am on our women's lacrosse team. I love listening to music, going to concerts, hiking, and exploring MKE! My favorite book is Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, and my favorite author is Haruki Murakami. I am happy to work with any writer at any stage of their writing, but I most enjoy working on literary analysis papers and am most knowledgeable about MLA formatting.
Brenda - Tutor
I'm a senior majoring in Sociology and Spanish Language, Literature and Culture. I'm from Milwaukee and I enjoy taking walks throughout Wisconsin's various trails. One of my favorite authors is Gloria Anzaldúa and I spent this summer reading Cien años de soledad by Gabriel García Márquez. I'm happy to work with writers at any stage of their writing process. I enjoy writing poems, creative pieces, and research in English and Spanish; I'm most familiar using APA and MLA citations. I welcome multilingual writers to bring their works to the Ott!
Charlie - Grad Assistant Director & tutor
I am a third year English PhD student focusing on Tolkien, colonialism and identity in literature, and monstrosity. My other academic interests include the Hebrew Bible, labor history, art analysis, and agriculture. Some of my favorite books include The Lord of the Rings, Jane Eyre, Howl's Moving Castle, The Witch Family, and Frankenstein. I'm happy to help with any writing project, and I especially enjoy the brainstorming and outlining process.

I am a senior majoring in computer science and minoring in digital media, and my pronouns are he/him/his. I am a lover of music, and my favorite artists consist of Dijon, Mk.gee, Pavement, Bon Iver, Blake Mills, Jonah Yano, Yo La Tengo, Ryan Beatty, Pinegrove, Big Thief, MJ Lendermen, Prince, and the list can keep going... My favorite movie is Paris, Texas and my favorite TV show is Twin Peaks. My favorite hobby is thrifting and I try to do it as consistently as possible! I am a part of Marquette's Filipino organization (Bayanihan Student Organization) and have been with them since my first year at Marquette. I enjoy working on any sort of creative writing, descriptive writing, or personal narratives, and I would be eager to help writers who need help in those categories, and of course any other writing/assignments as well!
Evelyn - Tutor
Hey, I’m Evelyn, a junior majoring in Writing Intensive English and minoring in Communications Studies and Advertising. I enjoy all genres of books, but I especially devour memoirs, no matter who it’s about (my personal favorite is The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates by MD governor, Wes Moore). I’m also super into short stories, fairytale fantasy, and studying and developing children’s literature. Academic papers such as argumentative essays, case studies, and lit reviews are right up my alley, but I’m also comfortable with a variety of creative pieces as well, such as poems, flash fiction, and long-form stories.

My name is Farah and my pronouns are she/her. I’m a pre-dental scholar student, so very familiar with papers in STEM disciplines. I am also a literature minor and most familiar with APA citation. I enjoy writing all things, but my favorites are argumentative essays and personal statements.

I’m a senior majoring in writing-intensive English and minoring in Irish studies. I am also interested in the field of disability studies. I love doing both creative writing and academic writing, and I’m interested in a career in science communication. My favorite genre to both read and write in is science fiction. I use any pronouns.
Frank - Tutor and PR Intern (F26)
I’m Frank (he/him), a junior majoring in Theology and Religious Studies with a minor in Irish Studies. I transferred from Salt Lake Community College, where I earned an associate’s degree in Writing Studies and tutored at the Community Writing Center. I’m a big fan of horror and mystery, but I also love Irish and Russian literature. I have a long list of things to watch and read, but I just keep re-watching and re-reading the things I love! I have experience working with a wide range of writing, and I love all of it. I’m especially well-versed in creative writing and APA. Among other things, I also have experience with technical writing (for engineering), MLA, philosophy, and sociological research.
Gabby - Tutor
I am a junior majoring in gigital media and minoring in marketing at Marquette, and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I enjoy all types of genres when it comes to books, movies, and music. If you were to stop me on the street, I would most likely be listening to Frank Ocean, Tyler, the Creator, or something from the early 2000s. I enjoy working with all types of writing, from personal statements and creative pieces to research essays and professional communications. Little Women is one of my favorite books of all time. I enjoy creative writing and academic writing, but am happy to work on any assignment no matter the genre or stage of writing. I am currently a senior majoring in English with a minor in business administration. One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received is: “What is written for you will always find its way.” I also have a soft spot for stories of resilience and ambition: Legally Blonde is one of my favorite movies. I enjoy working across a variety of writing styles, including critical analysis, argumentative essays, poetry, and reflective pieces. I’m well-versed in both APA and MLA citation formats and feel confident using them in academic contexts.

Hi my name is Leurah! I am a senior majoring in political science with minors in philosophy and peace studies. My all time favorite book that I pick up when I want something fun and familiar is The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown. I love working with writers and aiding in their writing process and I enjoy working on assignments or personal projects from reflective papers to academic essays.

My name is Livvy (she/her) and I'm a senior (and first-year in Marquette's ADP) studying English. I love literature, and I especially like poetry in translation and critical theory. My favorite authors are Gillian Flynn and Robin Wasserman, and I pass lots of time writing in my diary. My favorite types of writing are oriented around literary criticism, but I love all types of compositions and am ready to problem-solve at the drop of a hat!
Mary Clare - Tutor
I am Mary Clare, a junior majoring in secondary education and English with a minor in special education. My pronouns are she/her. I love movies, especially horror, my favorite being The Silence of the Lambs. I also enjoy junk journaling and crafting. I am the most familiar with analysis and reflective pieces, and have a wide range of knowledge of different styles of papers. I am Meg (She/Her/Hers) and I'm a senior majoring in Criminology and Law Studies, Social Welfare and Justice, and Political Science, with a minor in Law and Society. I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter books (and movies) and I enjoy any dystopian literature. When I'm not in the OTT, you are most likely to see me in Raynor listening to Hozier or Michael Jackson. I enjoy crafting personal statements and am happy to work on any assignment no matter the topic or stage!

I am a senior majoring in Writing-Intensive English and Mathematics and tentatively minoring in Theology. Some of my favorite books are Ann Leckie's Imperial Radch series, Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series, Tamsyn Muir's Locked Tomb series, and Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. I enjoy writing fiction (especially fantasy novels), research papers, and reflective pieces, but I'm happy to work with writers on any genre of writing.

I’m a third-year English Ph.D. student and have been working at the writing center for two years. I have a background in creative writing and drawing, and I am currently focused on the study of story structure and narrative theory.

I am a junior majoring in finance and minoring in writing-intensive English. A bit about me, I love reading and writing in my free time. Though my interests and reading genres are constantly evolving, one of my favorite books is Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. A favorite movie of mine is Goodfellas. Music genres that I listen to include country, rock, pop, indie - really anything that speaks to me. As for tutoring, I'm open to work with any student on any project. My goal is to help students learn as much as possible about the writing process, as well as to learn and grow myself as a tutor and as a person.

Robin - Grad Assistant Director and tutor
My name is Robin, and my preferred pronouns are they/them. I am a grad student pursuing a PhD in English, focusing on narratology, Tolkien, and video games. I graduated from Wichita State University with my MA in 2022, and have been teaching rhetoric and composition ever since. I enjoy fantasy and science fiction, with my favorite films being Blade Runner and The Lord of the Rings. As for books, The Name of the Wind--by Wisconsin native Patrick Rothfuss--is my favorite book. I see writing as a revolutionary act, and helping writers find the tools for success is the most reward aspect of teaching.
