Research Interests

I am an interdisciplinary scientist focused on addressing questions of biology using methods informed by physics. In particular, I am interested in the molecular basis of mutation and evolution in microbes, and some of my current research topics include how microbes use environmental information to change their mutation rates and novel microfluidic techniques. Additionally, I am interested in developing pedagogical approaches for the undergraduate science laboratory in which students are able to see themselves as active participants in the generation of new knowledge.
