Personal Property

In addition to training programs offered, Marquette University Police Department provides several resources and services to help protect personal property and be proactive with individual safety.

Bicycle Registration

Cable locks offer no real protection. Secure your bicycle with a U-shaped lock. When choosing a location to secure your bicycle, ensure that it is well-lit and visible.

For maximum security, secure your frame and wheels to an immovable object. Register your bike using our bicycle registration form or on Bike Index, a free nonprofit online bike registry. Contact Marquette University Police Department at (414) 288-6800 for more tips and information about registering your bicycle with the university and city.

Has you bike been stolen? Use our Stolen bicycle registration form to file a report.

Vacant House Watch

During winter and spring breaks, students can register with the Vacant House Watch program. Students register their residences with MUPD before leaving campus for break, and MUPD officers will monitor their vacant residences during their routine patrols of the neighborhood. Contact Marquette University Police Department at (414) 288-6800 for more tips and information.

Residence Security Survey

Students can register to have an MUPD crime prevention officer help them assess the security of their residence. The crime prevention officer will walk through the student’s residence with them and note any security concerns. The student will receive a written report to show their landlords when discussing any security concerns. Contact Marquette University Police Department at (414) 288-6800 for more tips and information.

Steering Wheel Locks

Marquette University Police Department has worked with Hyundai to acquire a new supply of steering wheel locks (Clubs) that will be made available for students, faculty or staff who own Kia or Hyundai cars, which have been targeted in an ongoing rash of auto thefts across the city of Milwaukee. Contact Marquette University Police Department at (414) 288-6800 for more tips and information.

Buying and Selling Personal Items

For students buying and selling personal items, the Marquette University Police Department office at 749 N. 16th St. serves as a safe meeting place for students to exchange property instead of at their personal residences. This allows them to protect their housing information while having the comfort of nearby security. Contact Marquette University Police Department at (414) 288-6800 for more tips and information.
