College of Education Hosts AJCU Education Deans
On September 28 and 29, the College of Education hosted the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) Education Deans Conference. Deans from many of the AJCU institutions across the country came together to address key issues in the field, to conduct a business meeting, to discover what is being done on each other’s campuses, and to learn about our College.
Guest speakers included Dr. Howard Fuller, Director of the Institute for the Transformation of Learning, and Dr. Kathleen Cepelka, Superintendent of Schools for the Archdioceses of Milwaukee. They discussed the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program and the Seton Catholic Schools. In addition, the faculty leaders of the Hartman Literacy and Learning Center (Dr. Kathleen Clark) and Behavior Clinic at Penfield Children’s Center (Dr. Bob Fox) presented information about their important outreach work.
A unique aspect of the meeting this year was that the AJCU Arts and Sciences and Graduate Deans were also here on campus, which provided an opportunity for the various deans, who were welcomed by President Michael Lovell, and addressed by Provost Dan Myers, to interact with one another and to learn about some fascinating Milwaukee history.
