The wind ensemble is Marquette's premier wind band. This competitively auditioned ensemble performs four major concerts each year, in addition to other collaborative concerts such as the Music Area Holiday Concert in December. The wind ensemble annually hosts a nationally or internationally known solo artist each February. The Guest Artist is in residence at Marquette for a week and gives lessons on his or her instrument, as well as teaching a masterclass and performing on the wind ensemble's February concert. The wind ensemble is conducted by the director of music at Marquette University, Dr. Erik Janners.
The group rehearses from 3:30 p.m. to 4:50 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and performs three concerts each academic school year on campus. Auditions take place during the first week of classes, and students will generally audition for placement with the Symphonic Band and the Wind Ensemble at the same time. For more information, please contact Dr. Janners.
