SPARK and Orientation Leaders 2018Every year, 130 current Marquette students welcome the incoming students to Marquette by serving on SPARK or Orientation Staff. Positions include the Student Directors (4 students), SPARK Leaders (26 students), and Orientation Leaders (100 students).

Student Directors for New Student & Family Programs

Students Directors for NSFP work part-time during the spring semester, and full-time from May through the end of September to plan and coordinate events and staff training. Four Student Directors generally have experience either with Orientation programs or other large scale programs or events and are expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills. The Student Director application for 2020 has closed.

SPARK Leaders

SPARK Leaders are chosen to facilitate small group discussions and staff student and family events at SPARK (summer sessions). SPARK Leaders are expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills, and they are paid a stipend for their work during SPARK.The SPARK Leader application has closed. Applicants will be notified of their hiring status by Monday, December 2.

Orientation Leaders

Orientation Leaders (OLs) are student volunteers who facilitate group discussions, staff events, and generally provide a welcoming atmosphere to new students during New Student and Family Orientation. The time commitment for Orientation Leaders is concentrated in late August. The Orientation Leader application for 2020 will launch on January 21, 2020.

Transfer Orientation Leaders

Transfer Orientation Leaders are six student volunteers who facilitate group discussions and staff for events specifically related to incoming transfer students. Transfer students looking to be a part of staff can apply to work with either first-year students or transfer students. The time commitment for Transfer Orientation Leaders is concentrated in late August. The Orientation Leader application for 2020 will launch on January 21, 2020.
