Policy on Graduate Assistantship Lines

Units are not authorized to move salary savings from assistantship lines to fund other unit needs.

  1. As soon as offers and acceptances are determined, units will report to the Graduate School the status of filling all allocated assistantship lines.
  2. Funding provided by the unit for graduate student employees hired outside of allocated assistantships will remain at the discretion of the unit.
  3. Salary increases for assistantship lines will be determined by the Graduate School during the annual budget building process and added directly to the assistantship lines by the Budget Office.
  4. Graduate School may transfer identified graduate assistantship salary savings out of units for other assistantship priorities as determined by the Graduate School.
