Dr. Berry completed his academic training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has worked in a variety of medical settings, including acute, sub-acute, long-term care, and long-term acute care facilities. His clinical experience has focused primarily on adults with neurogenic speech and swallowing disorders (stroke and traumatic brain injury), as well as tracheostomy and ventilator management.
Dr. Berry teaches courses pertaining to aspects of medical speech-language pathology and directs the Marquette University Speech and Swallowing Lab. The focus of Dr. Berry’s research is on speech motor control in healthy individuals and individuals with motor speech disorders (dysarthrias). The purpose of his work is to improve our understanding of normal and disordered speech motor control in order to foster the development of more effective approaches to clinical assessment and treatment of the dysarthrias.
