The college welcomes family members, friends and guests to celebrate the achievements of their graduates. This ceremony recognizes undergraduate and masters degree candidates. Doctoral students are recognized at the all-university morning ceremony at Fiserv Forum.

The graduation application deadline has passed, please contact the College Records Office with any questions.

What happens at the ceremony and how long does it typically last?

Ceremony highlights:
-National Anthem and Presentation of Colors
-Dean's Welcome
-Presentation of Gold Medal Awards
-Outstanding Senior Remarks
-Presentation of Graduates - each graduate recognized

Graduates process into the arena bowl and are seated by major/department (biological sciences through theology). The ceremony typically lasts two (2) hours. 

How do I order my cap and gown?

Cap and gown orders can be placed online through academic apparel vendor, Herff JonesThe deadline to order your cap and gown is Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

Undergraduates may retain or recycle their “Renew” cap, gown, and tassel. These keepsake gowns are produced from recycled post-consumer plastic bottles.

Master's candidates return apparel after the college ceremony at the Al McGuire Center to designated locations.  Tassels may be retained as a keepsake if desired.

When and where is cap and gown pick up?

Tuesday, May 12 from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday, May 13 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
AMU Marquette Place 2nd Floor

If a graduate is unable to pick up his/her apparel, a friend or relative may do so. Information needed includes the graduate's name, degree, height and college.

When and where do I pick up my tickets?

Each graduating student (undergraduate/graduate) will receive 5 (five) complimentary tickets for his/her family. There are no additional tickets available.

Students can pick up their tickets from the College office (Sensenbrenner Hall, Suites 102/103) April 20-24 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. MUID is required.

Those students who completed their degree requirements in fall, are no longer on campus and who will be participating in the college ceremony can contact us to make arrangements.


May 2020 graduates will receive their diplomas immediately following the ceremony.

Graduates not attending the May 2020 college ceremony may pick up diplomas and/or certificates at Marquette Central or request shipping beginning Wednesday, May 20, 2020. 

If you completed your degree requirements in December 2019 or will complete them in August or December 2020, you will need to contact the Office of the Registrar regarding diploma pick up.

Will the college ceremony be streamed online?

Yes, you will be able to watch the college ceremony live on our Facebook page


Doors will open at 1:00 p.m. and seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Seats for guests needing special accommodations are located around the perimeter of the arena at the main level.

Ushers will be present and on site to assist families and guests.
