Major: Biomedical engineering
Hometown: St. Louis, MO
Favorite course: Clinical and Regulatory Issues in Medical Devices
Organizations and Activities: Engineering Student Council | Society of Women Engineers | Kappa Delta Sorority | Alpha Eta Mu Beta | Biomedical Engineering Society | Club Sailing
About Me: As a type 1 diabetic and an emerging engineer, I aspire to improve lives of those suffering with chronic illness through the lens of human centered design. My experiences at Marquette both inside the classroom (studying biomedical and electrical engineering) and outside the classroom (whether it’s sailing on Lake Michigan or leading my Engineering Student Council team), have shown me that even the most difficult problems can be solved by stepping into the shoes of the person I’m helping and thinking innovatively. Ask me questions about the engineering curriculum, clubs on campus, the honors program, Greek life, club sports, or anything else about life at Marquette!

In my free time, I manage my own construction company, Hernandez Construction. I founded the company in 2019, and we span the greater Milwaukee area. We specialize in home improvements, including drywall, plumbing, painting, electricity, roofing, siding, carpentry, flooring, and more. During the week, I specialize in customer service, talking to potential customers, and organizing estimates. On weekends I go into the work field to gain hands-on experience.
