About Co-op and Internship Programs

We work with more than 200 leading engineering and technology companies across 25 states that hire our students for co-ops and internships, helping our students to build skills, gain invaluable professional experience and make key connections that will help them successfully launch their careers. Whether through co-op or internship experiences, students have the opportunity to refine their career path by gaining real-world experience. Co-op work and internships also open doors to full-time employment.

Co-ops

Student co-op work experiences are full-time, paid positions. Students are eligible to co-op after completing their sophomore year. Students are encouraged to work three to four work terms with the same company with schedules determined by student and employer need. For example, students can co-op a full calendar year, or alternate co-op and work terms with academic semesters. Students work full time and do not take classes while on co-op. Students can earn one academic credit per work term, and three credits can be combined to fulfill one engineering technical elective course.

Our co-op work terms are:

  • SPRING: January through May (recommended recruiting lead time: 18 months)
  • SUMMER: June through August (recommended recruiting lead time: 6 to 12 months)
  • FALL: September through December (recommended recruiting lead time: 12 months)

Internships

Students typically seek full-time, paid internships that take place during the summer months. They may also consider part-time internships during school breaks or in conjunction with their studies, if schedules allow. Students are eligible to seek internships at any time. They do not earn academic credit for internship completion.
