Career goals: I am following a pre-med track and hope to go to Medical School after spending a couple of years working as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in a hospital. Right now, my ultimate career goal is to be a forensic pathologist.
Why did you choose the College of Health Sciences at Marquette? I have always been fascinated by the human body and wanted to understand how and why it works the way it does. I chose the College of Health Sciences at Marquette because I knew that no matter what major I chose, I would be given the opportunity to learn about the human body under the guidance of amazing professors.
How did you pick your major/program? I participated in a young scholar’s program offered through the Medical Laboratory Science Department. I was introduced to the degree and felt confident I would love learning the science behind medicine. Additionally, with my interest in medical school, I felt knowledge of diagnostic testing and results would be an excellent background to have. Should these plans not work out, I will have a degree and certification allowing me to work as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. I also really loved the small program size and the closeness of everyone in the department.
What is your favorite spot on campus? My favorite spot on campus is the lab - every time I’m in the lab, I’m working with my hands, solving problems, and learning something new.
