Benefits of Core Honors

The best way to describe Honors at Marquette is as a set of opportunities, both in and out of the classroom.  Core Honors students take Honors versions of their Marquette Core classes, which are generally more discussion- and project-based and rely less on examinations.  We know the power of high-impact educational practices like student participation in faculty research, community-engaged learning, and study abroad, and we build those practices into our curriculum and support them with student funding.  One of the most powerful benefits of Core Honors is the student community.  Honors students are curious, open-minded, and interested in justice and leadership, and the Honors community both jump-starts your learning and supports you through your entire college career and beyond.  As part of Core Honors we offer an Honors Living-Learning Community in Straz Tower for both incoming first-year students and sophomores. The Honors LLC has one of the highest student satisfaction rates on campus, and students who participate not only make friends for life but score higher on several measures of academic success.

Honors staff and students are eager to tell you more about the program.  If you have questions after reading our website, please call or email! Our application is open to all students admitted to Marquette, and we have no score or GPA cutoff for admission. For more information on Core Honors, please see our FAQ page.
