My name is Drew Wilson. The pronouns I prefer to use are he/him/his. This is my first year at Marquette, and I am an MA candidate in history. I enjoy reading books from Erik Larson, Dan Brown, & Stephen Colbert, and my favorite genre to write is historical non-fiction. Statement of Philosophy

Writing is not simply a task; it is a process. This process involves formulating ideas, effectively articulating them, and to revising them into coherence. This process can be arduous and stressful, especially when it comes to high stakes writing in higher education. Consequently, becoming proficient in writing requires some practice with this process, and some familiarity with its most effective techniques. That’s where I come in! My approach as a writing tutor is to get writers to engage in the process, and to guide writers with insights and questions that will help them communicate their ideas more effectively. Writers who meet with me can expect a purposeful session, where their writing goals dictate the course of the conference.

Goals

  • Create a friendly and welcoming environment at the Ott.

  • Provide feedback in writing conferences that builds long-term writing skills, habits, and techniques.

  • To constantly assess and improve my own tutoring philosophy.
