Student Organization Training

Ongoing Leadership Development

Leadership is one of the pillars of Marquette. Leadership, in an Ignatian sense, encompasses being a contemplative in action—that is a reflective and active leader who is part of the community.  As student leaders we want to invest in your formation.

All undergraduate student organizations are required to attend trainings throughout the year. See below for details.

  1. All undergraduate organizations are required to attend Org Essentials. You must send at least one member of the E-Board. This is a 45 minutes session that will overview student organization policies and resources. See below for dates and times.
  2. Any organization who wants to request funding from MUSG must attend the SOF Training. This 1 hour training will overview the SOF Request process. See below for dates and times.
  3. Any organization who puts on a large performance event must attend the "Large Scale Event/Performance" training. This 1 hour training will overview the updated Practice Space and Show Policy as well as provide helpful timelines for planning a large scale event. You must send any and all E-board members who are involved in the planning of your large scale event. See below for dates and times.
  4. All undergraduate organizations are required to attend Lifesavers Training. You must send at least one member of the E-Board. This 1.5 hour session is facilitated by Counseling Center staff to learn the warning signs for suicide risk and discuss helping skills and ways to support someone in distress. See below for dates and times.
*It is important to note that this is not intended to be a form of counseling or treatment, and it won’t train participants to do therapy with someone who is suicidal. This program is designed to offer hope through positive action and to prepare you to react effectively when someone in your life is struggling, in distress or seems like they might be suicidal.
  5. All undergraduate organizations are required to attend Transitions & Getting Ready for End of Year training. This is a 1 hour training going over how to prepare your organization for transition of new officers and what you need for Org Renewal. At least one member of the E-Board must attend. See below for dates and times.

*Note that organizations must also attend any trainings as designated by your department or organization category advisor (i.e. Club/Rec Sports, Sorority/Fraternity Life, etc.).
