There are many forms and documents students may need to complete before they can start their service. It's imperative for students to make sure they ask questions regarding any forms they need to complete. Below are explanation of forms for students who want to complete service learning hours with organizations not matched with their course, for organizations not partnered with the Service Learning Program, and the timesheet needed to get hours verified on MUEngage.

Current Volunteer Form

If a student is a current volunteer at an organization that is partnered with the Service Learning Program, the student needs to complete the Current Volunteer Form. Current volunteer is defined as someone who has completed service at the organization for more than one semester and does not need to go through the onboarding process again. The Current Volunteer Form is also for students who want to complete service learning hours at organizations that are not listed for their course but are current community partners with the Service Learning Program. To find out which local organizations are partnered with the Service Learning Program, check the Current Community Partner list. 

 

Independent Placement Form

**Due to the current health pandemic, students are not required to submit paper. Students should email forms and approval from their professor. Read below for step-by-step instructions.

If a student chooses to complete service at an organization that is not partnered with the Service Learning Program, the student must complete an Independent Placement Form. Students must have the form signed by a representative (the person to whom they will report) and their professor. To find out which local organizations are partnered with the Service Learning Program, check the Current Community Partner list. 

Due to the current health pandemic, read below for step-by-step instructions for submitting an Independent Placement Form:

  1. Talk with your professor about the organization where you want to complete service learning. The organization must compliment your service learning course objectives.
  2. Download and complete the form
  3. Email the form to servicelearning@marquette.edu. You can cc your professor on the email. 
  4. Your professor can respond to the email giving their approval. 
  5. Once approved, a student Staff Manager will follow up with special registration instructions. 

Timesheet

**Due to the current health pandemic, students are not required to submit paper Timesheets for the fall semester. Student Coordinators will verify hours with sites via email. 

Students must now log their hours in MUEngage AND submit a Timesheet to have their hours verified in MUEngage. If a student only submits a timesheet without logging in hours on MUEngage or logs impacts on MUEngage without submitting a timesheet, professors will be notified that the hours are not verified. The timesheet should be signed by the student's site supervisor. Any forged signatures or false accumulated service learning hours are considered academic dishonesty. Faculty members are notified of any discrepancies in logged service learning hours and timesheets. At the end of the semester, students should submit their timesheet to the Service Learning Program office to get their hours verified in MUEngage. Timesheets must be submitted the last week of courses. Student Coordinators will not log impacts on MUEngage for students
