John Thiede, S.J. (Ph.D. University of Notre Dame, 2012), is a member of the Upper Midwest Province of the Society of Jesus, and Associate Professor of Theology at Marquette University. He is currently the visiting Jesuit Chair at Georgetown University working on a co-authored book on Politics, Religion and Democracy in Latin America with Fr. Matthew Carnes, SJ, and his own book titled: Saint Oscar Romero's Theological Wellspring: Ignacio Ellacuria, SJ. Fr. Thiede, SJ earned his Ph.D. in Systematic Theology at the University of Notre Dame and published his first book with Lexington Press, a division of Rowman and Littlefield, titled: Remembering Oscar Romero and the Martyrs of El Salvador: A Cloud of Witnesses. He specializes in Christology and Latin American Theology, and currently serves on the Board of Trustees at Xavier University, and on the Board of Directors at Marquette University High School.

His interests include Martyrdom, Latin American Theology, Christology, and Political Theology. He is currently working on articles on the future of liberation theology and the homilies of Archbishop Oscar Romero.
