Stress, Trauma and Resilience: A Neurobiological Perspective

A wealth of evidence indicates a strong linkage between childhood abuse, violence and neglect with behavioral and mental health disorders later in life.

In the College of Health Sciences’ Marquette Presents breakfast forum, "Stress, Trauma and Resilience: A Neurobiological Perspective," a panel of Marquette neuroscientists discussed brain mechanisms of stress responsiveness and coping, the effects of stress hormones on the brain’s developmental trajectory and epigenetic changes that can perpetuate negative effects across multiple generations.

The Marquette Presents Series is a research series on issues of community health from the College of Health Sciences.
