Acquisitions Guide
Library Collections
To facilitate collection building, each academic department has an appointed faculty library representative and a corresponding subject liaison librarian, who manages an annual discretionary fund for the purchase of books and other resources. Consult with your department’s faculty representative about the procedures for placing requests.
Faculty may submit materials requests through the subject liaison librarian or the faculty library representative. Faculty representatives may be authorized to place requests via the Marquette Acquisitions Request Service MARS form. Faculty who wish to make suggestions outside their discipline may do so via the online collection suggestion form.
Faculty may request to license streaming videos for classroom use via the Streaming Video Request Form. Please note that it is the Libraries’ policy, due to cost constraints, not to license feature films for streaming. Faculty members are encouraged to have their students use Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc., for such viewing.
Faculty may request new subscriptions via the Resource Request Form. Requests must be endorsed by the faculty library representative and submitted to the subject liaison librarian. Requests are considered periodically throughout the year.
