By car: Head north on N 19th St. toward Wells St. Turn right on to W Wells St. Turn left at the 2nd cross street onto N 17th St. Turn left onto W Highland Ave.

By bus: Take the #23 bus from Wisconsin Ave towards Calumet/Granville via Fond du Lack- National. Get off at the intersection of N 17th and Highland.

Days/Hours of Volunteering: Students can find out specific days and times for service learning during the Service Learning Sign-Up Night.

Description of Agency/Activities: An elementary school serving children ages 14 months - 9 years, using Montessori educational principles. Parents involve themselves on all levels of education. The Highland Community School's after-school program serves school children of all ages.

Student Role in Agency: In the afterschool program, Service Learners will assist in playground supervision, group games and arts and crafts. Service Learners will be expected to plan and coordinate at least two special projects with children according to their abilities and interests. These projects last about 20 minutes each. Students interested in working with sixth graders will have the opportunity to help students with a United Nations project.
