Fran Alfonzo is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Psychology with a minor in Family Studies. She will be graduating in May 2015 and plans to continue onto graduate school to pursue her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. Fran joined the Mental Health Disparities Lab in the Fall of 2013 to out of immense interest in ethnic studies, and has thoroughly enjoyed combining what she’s learned in the lab with her own personal experience as a member of a minority. Outside of the lab, Fran continues work in the Latino population and in the clinical environment by volunteering in many places across Milwaukee, such as the Grand Avenue Club, Empowering Latino Parents at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Aurora Psychiatric Hospital. She is also a member of the International Honors Society in Psychology and on the Executive Board of the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center at Marquette. Fran is very excited to continue doing research throughout the field of Psychology both this year and in the future, and feels incredibly optimistic about what is to come.
