Danielle Nussberger (Ph.D., University of Notre Dame, 2008) specializes in systematic theology and spirituality. She has specific interests in the intersection between theology and spirituality, trinitarian theology, Hans Urs von Balthasar, John Henry Newman, and feminist theology.
Dr. Nussberger currently teaches courses on trinitarian theology, Hans Urs von Balthasar, contemplation and action, and suffering and redemption.
She is on the editorial board of the Newman Studies Journal. She co-edited, John Henry Newman and the Crisis of Modernity (Lexington/Fortress, 2018) with Brian W. Hughes. Dr. Nussberger has also written on such topics as: Balthasar’s theology of Holy Saturday, Balthasar and Newman on sainthood in modernity, the spirituality of Lúcás Chan’s biblical ethics, and Catholic feminist theology. She is currently examining Adrienne Von Speyr’s influence on Balthasar, with special emphasis upon their theologies of prayer.
