The Olson Leadership Institute is a leadership development opportunity for students, funded through the Olson Family Foundation. The Institute will introduce students to and immerse them in what leadership means at Marquette through the lens of Ignatian spirituality and Catholic Jesuit values. Students will have the opportunity explore their leadership styles.

This year's conference will feature a keynote speaker, workshops, call for action, and reflection. Free and open to all students! Food is also provided!

Navigating Relationships: Yourself, Those Around You, and Your Community

Presenters: Tonjie Reese, Assistant Director of Prevention and Advocacy & Tessa Kohler, Assistant Director of Student Health Promotion

During this workshop we will discuss and provide insight on building a healthy relationship with yourself, those closest to you, and your community. Drawing from our work in Health Promotion, Prevention, and Advocacy, we will connect having healthy relationships as a core leadership skill.

Presenter: Chris Briggs, Assistant Director for Training and Development

Regardless of leadership style, true leadership always carries an element of being observed. Those in leadership positions are always being observed, and more impact comes from the example we set (or don't set) than by our words. Through storytelling, discussion, and reflection, participants will explore how their daily behaviors influence the people around them and how small, intentional interactions can create meaningful change. Drawing on the concepts of role modeling, influence, and authentic connection, this workshop challenges students to step out of autopilot, lead with purpose, and recognize the ripple effects of their everyday actions. In the spirit of "Let Your Light Shine," participants will leave with practical strategies for creating a positive impact in their organizations, workplaces, and communities.
