Residence Hall Move In

Wednesday, August 20, 2025 through Saturday, August 23, 2025

  • Various shifts available
  • Various residence halls

Volunteers will greet people as they pull up and direct them to check-in. Volunteers will also help carry items into res halls if family requests or may be asked to watch items on curb as family carries things to room in several trips.

There are a few volunteer roles that only require sitting. Please indicate on your sign up that is needed or reach out to Heather Whitmill.

New Student Orientation Check In

Wednesday, August 20, 2025 | Alumni Memorial Union

5 volunteers needed for each of the following shifts:

  • 9am – 11am
  • 11am – 1pm
  • 1pm – 3pm

Arrive 10 minutes before shift.

Volunteers will arrive at the AMU 3rd floor for specific position instructions and then will be positioned in and around the AMU to aid with traffic flow and wayfinding.

Family Liturgy

Wednesday, August 20, 2025 | Varsity Theatre

5:30 p.m. (Mass starts at 6pm)

Volunteers needed to help with Liturgy:

  • 3 people for hospitality, welcoming students and their families
  • 3 Eucharistic Ministers, must be Catholic

Commuters at Marquette

Wednesday, August 20, 2025 | Alumni Memorial Union Marquette Place

4:00 – 5:30 p.m.

New commuter students and their families are invited to dinner and a program where they get to know their peers and learn about campus resources.

No volunteers needed. Staff and faculty are welcome to attend (no need to sign-up; just show up). This is a great opportunity to introduce yourself to new students.

Convocation

Wednesday, August 20, 2025 | Al McGuire Center

7:00 – 9:00 pm (Program begins at 7:30)

Meet at Al McGuire Center, in the lobby by McGuire Statue.

10 volunteers needed.

Convocation is the formal welcome to the class of 2029. Volunteers are needed for wayfinding to the Al McGuire Center Concourse & Hospitality, welcoming students and families, greeting them as they come into the Al, and directing them to seating.

Family Send Off

Wednesday, August 20, 2025 | Union Sports Annex Restaurant

8:00 p.m. (Event: 8:30pm - 10pm)
Volunteers do not need to stay for entire duration.

The Send-Off is a social gathering for families after Convocation. Volunteers needed to socialize with families and extend hospitality.

Multicultural Welcomes

Saturday, August 23, 2025 | Alumni Memorial Union 163

2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

6 volunteers needed.

Volunteers will check students in, extend hospitality, and socialise with new students.

Join the Office of Inclusion and Belonging for the Multicultural Welcome! Come meet new and returning multicultural students while enjoying food and building community in a relaxed atmosphere. Free food and drop in as your schedule allows!

Marquette Welcome Fest

6:30 – 9:00 p.m. (Event: 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.)

Volunteers will be helping with serving popcorn and cotton candy, monitoring the game area, helping with students signing waivers, and socializing with students.

LGBTQ+ Fall Welcome

Thursday, August 28, 2025 | LGBTQ+ Resource Center (AMU 140)

3:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Join LGBTQ+ student, staff, faculty and allies at Marquette for the annual LGBTQ+ Welcome to kickoff the fall semester. A community social to make new friendships and connect with old friends. Refreshments will be served.

O-Fest and Community Service Fair

Thursday, September 4, 2025 | Cental Mall

4:00 - 7:00 p.m. 

O-Fest offers students the opportunity to explore Marquette's student organizations by talking to organization representatives and signing up for organizations of interest. In addition, there will be a number of university offices and departments present to share information about various programs and services available to students at the university.

No volunteers needed. Staff and faculty are welcome to attend.
