Education major careers and jobs

What can you do with a major in education? For nearly 90 years, Marquette has prepared students to work as professionals in public and private school settings. Our undergraduate education major positions students to teach in elementary, middle and secondary schools, and our graduate education programs prepare students for several roles, including counselors who work in schools and other human service organizations, master teachers, school principals and superintendents, private practice counseling psychologists, and higher education faculty and administrators. The strong interpersonal and organizational skills of education majors also translate well to a multitude of fields.

Jobs for education majors

More than 80 percent of Marquette's education majors find teaching positions in their area of certification after graduation, with the remainder pursuing graduate work or securing jobs in education-related fields and nonprofit organizations.

More than 50 percent of our education graduates continue making a difference for children and adolescents in Milwaukee public schools, as well as in other public, private and charter schools in the Milwaukee metro area. Graduates who leave Wisconsin find success teaching in a wide variety of districts in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina and Texas, as well as abroad.
