Barbara Bush Commencement Video

April 2018—Commemorating former first lady Barbara Bush, a video recording of her 1992 commencement speech at Marquette University is being made available online for the first time.

On May 17, 1992, First Lady Barbara Bush visited the Marquette campus to receive an honorary degree and to celebrate the graduation of Marquette's class of 1992 with an inspiring commencement speech.

The speech was recorded but has remained in an analog format within the University Archives' collections in Raynor Memorial Libraries. Today, to mark the former first lady's passing on April 17, 2018, University Archivist Katie Blank and the library's special collections team have quickly digitized the film and made it available online for all.
