WHEREAS, the University Faculty Committee on Budgets and Financial Planning’s March 14 report concludes that Marquette University’s current practice of using a “December budget approval date offers less time, compared to the February budget approval date used in the past, to adjust the upcoming fiscal year’s budget based on new data that emerges during the current fiscal year.” Now therefore:
BE IT RESOLVED, that The University Academic Senate directs the University Faculty Committee on Budgets and Financial Planning to work with the Office of Finance and ELT to assess the impact of moving the budget approval date from December to February and to report back to UAS by the first meeting of the 2024-25 Academic Year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that either the Provost or a designee of the Office of Finance make a report to the Senate during the first meeting of the 2024–2025 academic year about plans to move the budget approval date from December to February.
