Assistant Professor of Economics

Dr. Schmick joined Marquette University in 2020. He earned his PhD and MA in economics from the University of Pittsburgh. He received his BA in economics from Muhlenberg College. Prior to joining Marquette, Dr. Schmick worked as an assistant professor at Washington & Jefferson College.

Dr. Schmick is an applied microeconomist with research interests in economic history, public economics, labor economics, and environmental economics. His recent research focuses on how economic shocks, programs, and systems in the American South differentially affected black and white Americans.
