Scholarships & Assistantships

NEW Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute assistantships are available starting in fall 2025.  Apply by Feb. 15 for priority consideration for graduate assistantships and merit-based scholarship.

The Master of Science in Finance (MSF) equips students with the knowledge and skills to excel in the dynamic field of finance.  The MSF curriculum blends theoretical foundations, technical skills, and practical applications – preparing students to advance within their finance career or transition into a finance role.

MSF students learn from expert faculty who care about each student’s goals, growth, and success.  Additional program highlights include:

Quantitative Curriculum: MSF students develop in-demand knowledge and technical skills through courses including advanced financial management, financial econometrics, and investments as well as 1-credit courses in R, Python, and SQL.  Learn more about the MSF curriculum.

Electives in High-Growth Areas: MSF students complete elective courses in high-growth areas such as fintech, sustainable finance, investment banking, behavioral finance, and real estate finance.  These specialized courses ensure that students stay ahead of the curve and are prepared to succeed in emerging fields.

Professional Project & Faculty Mentoring: Students complete their MSF studies through a capstone professional project, offering an opportunity to work closely with a faculty mentor.  Within the project, students apply their technical skills and econometric methods to explore empirical questions in a finance area of their choice.  By applying your newfound skills to real-world challenges, you'll gain invaluable hands-on experience.  Learn more about the MSF professional project.

Flexibility: The MSF may be completed fully online or with the option to complete select courses on campus.  Students may pursue the program full-time, part-time or through a 1-year accelerated pathway.
