Where is the Marquette University School of Dentistry located?

Marquette has Wisconsin’s only dental school and is located in 1801 West Wisconsin Ave. Milwaukee, WI 53233

How many students do you accept every year?

Each year, we enroll only 100 freshmen — 50 Wisconsin residents and 50 non-residents — to ensure that all students receive the personal attention they require to succeed in this intense, exciting learning environment.

What are the average GPA and DAT scores of your incoming students?

Can I visit Marquette?

Anyone interested in visiting the School of Dentistry may schedule an appointment and tour by contacting Admissions at (800) 445-5385. Tours are available most weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. There are no tours available on weekends. Appointments for tours fill quickly, so it is recommended that you call for an appointment two to three weeks in advance.

Does Marquette offer a seven-year D.D.S. program?

Marquette offers a seven-year D.D.S. program for students entering the university directly from high school. The admissions process for the Pre-dental Scholars program is handled through Marquette’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Do I need a bachelor’s degree to get into the Marquette School of Dentistry?

Though a bachelor’s degree is not required for admission, it is generally preferred. Because of the competitive nature of dental school admissions, Marquette rarely takes applicants who have not completed their bachelor’s degree.

What graduate specialties does Marquette offer?

We offer graduate programs in dental biomaterials, orthodontics, prosthodontics and endodontics. The admissions for these programs are handled through our Graduate School, not the School of Dentistry.

How do I apply?

Application for admission to the Marquette University School of Dentistry may be made through the Associated American Dental Schools Application Service.

How can I find out the status of my application?

Applicants can obtain updates on the status of their application by calling our office at (800) 445-5385 or emailing us. Additionally, the Admissions office will make every effort to update the AADSAS web portal in a timely manner.

Does Marquette require interviews?

The Admissions Committee selects which candidates it wants to interview and extends interview invitations beginning in early September. The interviews take place annually in October and November. Interviews are offered by invitation only. It is extremely difficult for an applicant to be admitted if he/she has not been interviewed during the fall interview cycle. Occasionally (if necessary) the Admissions Committee will do additional interviews in the spring. It is possible to be added to the alternate pool without an interview.

When will a decision be made on my file?

The Admissions Committee sends out initial offers of admission and denials on December 1. After December 1, the Admission Committee makes decisions on a rolling basis.

Does Marquette retain application materials between cycles?

Yes. We retain letters of recommendation and DAT scores and carry those over to the next year if the applicant chooses to reapply. Applicants must submit a new application and pay a new application fee each year.

Do I need to complete all of my prerequisite course work before I apply?

Applicants are welcome to apply to dental school while their prerequisite course work is in progress. If an applicant is accepted into the class, his/her offer of admission is contingent upon satisfactory completion of all prerequisite course work.

It is possible to defer admissions?

Generally, deferments are granted on a case-by-case basis, as determined by our Admissions Committee. Deferments have been granted in the past, but it is not an overly common practice.
