Many moons ago Melody Baker attended Muskegon Community College in Michigan and enjoyed a career as a Certified Dental Assistant, working in private practice and at the University of Michigan Dental School.  After moving to Wisconsin, she began working at Marquette University in the Graduate School and was there until transferring to the (newly opened) Office of Research and Innovation in February of 2015. In August 2023, she celebrated 20 years at Marquette.

During her time at Marquette, she has participated in the University Staff Senate and the International Friendship Program, and still enjoys the lifelong friendships she has forged with international students.  She has been a member of the campus chapter of the Toastmaster’s International club, Marq Our Words, since 2011.

Melody loves to spend her time outside of work travelling with her husband, spending time with her dog Angus, gardening, reading, cooking (with an interest in international foods and wine), and baking.  Outdoor activities she enjoys when she can: hiking, scuba diving, skiing.  Along with her husband, she participates in a SE Asia missions group at her church and has visited Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Hong Kong.
