Dr. Sarah Bonewits FeldnerOn behalf of our students, faculty and staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our website. To enhance your experience, I would like to share an overview of our curriculum, the exciting opportunities we offer, and the values we aim to inspire in our students.

Our course offerings cross a wide range of disciplines that include strategic communication, digital media and performing arts, communication studies, journalism and media studies. Regardless of which fields students choose to study, they all receive a well-rounded liberal arts background and learn valuable skills in writing, public speaking and critical thinking. Students also engage with award-winning faculty, many of who are accomplished scholars or professional artists. Faculty works closely with students to help them discover their talents and holds them to a high level of scholarship and academic integrity.

We provide students with experiential learning opportunities that keep pace with the expanding multimedia landscape, and most students choose to participate in programs that further their success. We offer media outlets where students learn how to use state-of-the-art equipment, an exciting mentor program within our alumni network and internships at corporations, agencies and non-profit organizations. Through these opportunities, students learn to apply their classroom experience in a professional context and receive guidance from industry professionals.

In addition, students take courses in religion, philosophy and ethics that instill our Jesuit mission. Some students choose to further this mission by completing internships at local non-profit organizations, dedicated to the wellness and betterment of our community.

I believe the unique combination of an education inspired by Jesuit values, talented faculty that invests in the success of our students and opportunities for undergraduates to gain applied learning experience distinguishes our program. While earning their degrees, our students receive the foundation they need “to be the difference” and to become successful, ethically minded leaders in their places of employ and within their communities.

I am proud to lead our college and encourage our faculty and staff to help further our mission and create a bright future for our students. I invite you to explore our website and discover how a degree from the Diederich College of Communication prepares students to become responsible citizens and successful industry professionals.
