Victoria Adjetey is a research and teaching sssistant and an MA student in communication with a concentration in Media and Communication Studies at Marquette University. As a Christian academic, she centers Jesus in all she does. Her research interests lie at the intersection of critical media studies, intercultural communication, and critical cultural studies, with a particular focus on race, gender and social justice in digital media. She is especially interested in how identity is formed and contested in digital spaces, how power operates in media representations, and how marginalized voices can be amplified through communication practices. "Dominic is from the Ashanti Region of Ghana in West Africa, an area renowned for its rich cultural heritage, vibrant festivals, and the production of kente cloth. His research interests center on exploring how media and popular culture represent diverse cultural identities and shape racial dynamics. He is particularly focused on examining the portrayal of minority identities in the media, analyzing the intersections of race, gender, ethnicity and nationality. In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching soccer, dabbling in photography, and passionately believes that J. Cole is the GOAT."

I am a second-year master’s student and a teaching assistant. My work focuses on how the affordances of digital and AI-mediated technologies shape human perception, emotion, and well-being. Drawing on media psychology, human–computer interaction and moral foundations theory, my research examines how interface design and interactivity embed psychological and moral cues that influence trust, interpretation, and behavior in digital environments. I am originally from Nigeria.

"My name is Michelle, and I am a second-year international graduate student at Marquette University, pursuing a Master's degree in Media and Communication Studies. Born and raised in Guatemala City, Guatemala, I moved to Marquette in 2019 to earn my Honors Bachelor of Arts, with a double major in Digital Media and Advertising, a minor in Communication Studies, and a concentration in Communication Leadership (C-Lead). My research interests lie in media law and ethics, with a focus on the role of technology in a) deceptive and misleading advertising and b) political communication impacting voter turnout, freedom of expression, and media literacy. As a teaching assistant, I am committed to creating a dynamic and safe learning environment where I intellectually challenge my students to promote their success. By introducing students to a range of communication fields and encouraging them to critically consider ethical implications, I lay a foundational understanding that shapes their future careers. As I leverage my diverse knowledge, areas of research interest, and perspective as an international student and Marquette alumna, I promote authenticity and cultural awareness, fostering academic and social-emotional growth that empowers students to succeed in a globalized world."

I am originally from the Madison area, but I moved to a town near Burlington, WI, recently and will be living in Milwaukee for Graduate School. I studied International Studies with a Spanish Concentration, Environmental Science, and Peacebuilding for my undergraduate degree. I am interested in international affairs, political science communication, and environmental studies communications. I am also interested in religion and faith, specifically Catholicism and Catholic Social Teaching, and how they relate to current affairs."

My name is Phylix Asilevi, and I am from Ghana. I am a graduate student and a teaching assistant at the Diedrich College of Communication in Marquette University. I hold a diploma in Communication Studies and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism, now University of Media, Arts and Communication. I love to read and write, and this passion led me to create a blog where I posted short stories and motivational quotes. I am also a wife to the most wonderful man and a mother of two amazing kids.
I love to explore gender stereotypes, specifically toward women, as well as their roles in society and in organizations. This was reflected in my undergraduate thesis where I examined the gendered experience of female sports journalists in some selected media houses in Ghana.
During my time in Marquette, I hope to expand more on my research, learn a lot from faculty and make new and meaningful connections.

Hello, my name is Lilian Brunclik. I was born and raised in Wisconsin. I love to travel, especially with friends and family. My favorite city is London which I have visited twice now. I love to examine different cultures and the way in which communication differs depending on the place. I am interested in researching crisis communication as well as organizational communication, and how it is practiced in workplace settings. I look forward to researching a variety of topics and am very excited about having the tools to do so here in this program.

My name is Chenghan Zhou (Han), and I am a second-year M.A. student in Communication and a research assistant in the Diederich College of Communication. I grew up in mainland China and earned my bachelor’s degree in journalism and communication from the Macau University of Science and Technology. My research examines how transparency, media ethics and digital platforms shape political communication and public trust, with a particular focus on social media in China and the United States. I am currently involved in projects on local news ecosystems, government transparency in anti-corruption crises, and cross-national information flows. Outside of research, I enjoy coaching and playing volleyball and am always happy to connect with others who share interests in media, politics, or sports.
