Lobat Tayebi

Lobat Tayebi, M.S., Ph.D

Associate Professor and Director of Research at MUSoD

After her graduation from University of California-Davis in 2011, Lobat joined Oklahoma State University as an Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering. She moved to Marquette University School of Dentistry in 2014 as an Associate Professor and Director of Research. She has published over 280 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and her research interests include biomaterials, 3D printing, regenerative medicine and tissue engineering and personalized medicine.

Morteza Joined Tayebi group in July 2015. As a bioengineer, he works in the areas of 3D printing, tissue engineering and drug delivery systems. Among the group members, he has the responsibility of managing the lab.

Nikita grew up in the Milwaukee area and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He graduated in May of 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and certificates in Environmental Studies and Stem Cell Sciences. As an undergrad, Nikita studied Charcot-Marie Tooth Disease, a progressive disorder that affects the peripheral nervous system. His research focused on evaluating gene expression levels throughout the generation of a human Schwann cell culture from iPS cells. Nikita plans on attending Dental School in the near future and is excited to be back in a research lab.

Dr. Omidi’s research is focused on application of nanobiomaterials in soft, hard, and interfacial tissue engineering. He is particularly interested is 3D printing and smart material design in regenerative medicine.

Dr. Tabatabaei earned her D.D.S. degree from Kerman University in Iran in 2000. After 2 years of studying in the fields of oral biology and dental materials at Toulouse University in France, she moved back to Iran and received her Ph.D in Dental Biomaterials. She was head of the department of Dental Biomaterials at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Currently, she is a postdoctoral fellow in Tayebi group with research focused on tissue engineering, 3D printing, stem cells and oral mucosa.

Daniela Masson-Meyers

Dr. Masson-Meyers joined Tayebi group in January 2020. She holds a PhD in Medical Sciences, Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy. She completed her PhD from the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil), with part of her doctoral research performed at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her research interests include regenerative medicine, tissue injury and repair and tissue engineering. Her research will be an extension and combination of previous experience in cell culture and methodologies to assess tissue repair with new skills and knowledge of developing and testing engineered tissue scaffolds, particularly vascularized osteo-mucosal tissue constructs using 3D-printing technology.

Alexandra Gelin is from Long Island, New York, and moved to Milwaukee last year. She is a full-time NIH-funded researcher and her research topic is development of an integrated 3D-printed osteo-mucosal model using collagen substrate. She has always had an interest in research and is excited to be working in the lab.

Rizwan Bader is currently attending Marquette University School of Dentistry. He was raised in Racine, Wisconsin and has been engaged in a myriad of activities since a young age. Rizwan is passionate about his research interests of dental materials and bone tissue engineering. He is working on projects related to polymeric and ceramic 3D printed bone scaffolds. Currently, Rizwan is excited to investigate the degradation and mechanical properties of calcium phosphate scaffolds. He loves working with the team and looks forward to new opportunities.
