The Diederich College of Communication is launching a new webinar series "Diederich Dialogues" to discuss issues of diversity, inclusion, social justice and equity. Please join us from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14.

Topic: “Keeping it real: How to have crucial conversations about race”

We can’t fix a problem if we don’t talk about it. And let’s face it: Conversations about race and race relations can make us uncomfortable. This webinar examines how communicators can help bridge divides through deliberate, intentional discourse and offers strategies to set the stage for success.

Panelists:

Bevin Christie, a Sherman Park resident active in community issues surrounding race and equity.

Rick Deines, a founder of the Zeidler Group and a conversation facilitator with The Zeidler Center for Public Discussion who writes often about race for the Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service.

Sheena Carey, who teaches courses on intercultural communication as well as communication and conflict at Marquette University.

Lisa Ross, College alumnae and chief operating officer of Edelman.

Moderator: Ron Smith
