What is financial need?

Financial need is the difference between what it costs to attend Marquette and what your family can afford to contribute toward college expenses (based upon the FAFSA information). In other words:

Cost of attendance minus expected family contribution = financial need

Many types of financial aid can be applied only toward demonstrated financial need. However, there are other types of aid that can be awarded regardless of your need.

Students must report all outside scholarships from sources other than the federal, state and university programs. Need-based aid may be reduced when a student receives a combination of need based aid and outside scholarships that exceed their financial need.
