Marquette University is required by federal regulation to apply both qualitative and quantitative standards in measuring academic progress for financial aid purposes. These standards apply to all students who receive institutional, state, and federal Title IV and Title VII funds administered by the University. Federal Title IV programs include Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, Federal Direct Loan and PLUS Loans, Federal Perkins Loans and Federal Work-Study. Title VII programs include Federal Nursing Loans, Health Professional Loans for Dental students, and Disadvantaged Scholarships, Grants and Loans.
All students awarded Title IV funds in excess of school charges are eligible for a refund. The refund should be made by the seventh day of class to obtain required course materials and educational supplies. Marquette University meets this requirement by refunding the student his or her Title IV credit balance by the seventh day of class.
Marquette has established the following criteria in conjunction with federal regulations published on October 6, 1993, Federal Register Part 668.16 and in the Higher Education Amendments of 1986.
