2017 Federal Income Tax Information, Parent & Student

This is not a downloadable form.

The 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) was revised to make the form easier to complete and to improve the accuracy of the information provided on the form. For the 2019–20 FAFSA, students (and parents, as appropriate) will report their tax year 2017 income information.

Student Information

If you are selected for Verification, Marquette University is required to confirm your tax information. We are not able to accept Federal Tax Returns (including 2017 IRS Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ) for this requirement. Instead, students can use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA by selecting Link to IRS to automatically transfer tax information to the FAFSA and to the University. If you are not eligible to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, you must submit a signed copy of your 2017 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript.

Parent Information

If you are selected for Verification, Marquette University is also required to confirm your parent(s) tax information. We are not able to accept Federal Tax Returns (including 2016 IRS Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ) for this requirement. Instead, parents can use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA by selecting Link to IRS to automatically transfer tax information to the FAFSA and to the University. If your parents are not eligible to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, your parents must submit a signed copy of their 2017 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript.

NOTE: If your parent(s) did not file a 2017 federal tax return and you receive notice you have been selected for verification, you must obtain documentation from the IRS that your parent(s) did not file.
