Spring 2021 Regular Academic Session 1 Exams

For all Undergraduate divisions and the Graduate School

• Two hours are allowed for each examination.  Unless otherwise stated in the course syllabus that is distributed at the beginning of the term, faculty must allow students the full 2 hours for any exam held during final exams week.
• Classes are designated by the first or only day of the week and the hour the LECTURE meets.  Thus, a Monday - Wednesday - Friday or a Friday  only class that meets at 8 a.m. is listed on the chart as M-W-F 8 and the examination is scheduled for Wednesday, May 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
• Courses that do not meet on the hour have their examination scheduled at the time of the hour portion of the actual meeting time.  Thus, a Tuesday - Thursday 9:30 class would be scheduled for the Tu-Th 9 examination time or a Monday-Wednesday 3:30 p.m. class would be scheduled for the M-W-F 3 examination time.
• In the 5:45 p.m. and 8 p.m. examination periods, note carefully the distinction between the one-day and two-day courses.  A double hour listing (e.g., 6 to 7 p.m.) indicates that all courses that begin ON OR BETWEEN the stated hours are scheduled for examinations at that period.  Thus, a Monday-only class that meets at 5:30 p.m. is listed on the chart as M - only 5 to 5:45 and the examination is scheduled for Monday, May 10 from 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
• All other sessions:  final exams may be given on the last date.  Check your syllabus.

Policy notes:

1. No examinations may be scheduled by faculty in the week preceding final examination week.
2. Any changes in this examination schedule must be approved by the Office of the Provost.
3. When a conflict is found in the examination schedule (i.e., two examinations scheduled for the same period), it should be reported to the college/school in which you are enrolled.
4. An alternative examination time for an individual student's convenience is not permitted.  For those extreme situations that may warrant an exception, the student must confer with the faculty.  Any change of the examination time in this instance is at the discretion of the faculty.
5. No student is required to take more than three final examinations in one day, as long as these exams are not a team presentation, a take home final or a final paper.  Students in this circumstance should contact their college office to reschedule one exam.  The exam to be rescheduled is at the discretion of the college.
6. Changes because of emergency situations (i.e., the university closing because of inclement weather, power outage, etc.) will be resolved by the Office of the Provost.
7. The Schedule of Classes Review/Exam Request form (campus restricted) can be used by the colleges and academic departments to request an alternative classroom for the final exam should the instructor wish to offer the exam in a different classroom than the one in which the class is held.  NOTE:  days and times may not be changed.
8. To arrange for ADA final exam room accommodations, faculty must contact the Office of Disability Services no later than five business days before the scheduled examination.
