The second annual Give Marquette Day will take place on Thursday, February 21, 2019 and is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the university. Last year, more than 1600 donors, including students, parents, faculty and staff donate $500,000 in just 24 hours! This year's 24-hour fundraising event will end at 11:59 p.m. CST on February 21.

This year in 2019, two generous donors have stepped up to help support College of Communication students and initiatives:

  • Marybeth Jacobson, Jour ’81, and Ted Strupp, Jour ’81, will match gifts to the Edward Pepan Scholarship Fund, dollar-for-dollar, up to $1,250 and offer these inspiring words about Ed: "Dean’s assistant Ed Pepan was like a home-cooked meal: warm, comforting and full of love. As we fretted for our professional futures, he invariably connected us with MU alums in our chosen field, sending us off with warm assurances toward our dreams. Won’t you join us in keeping Ed’s legacy of caring alive?"
  • Kevin M. McGavick, Comm ’93, will match gifts to the Kevin McGavick Fund for Student Development of Interpersonal Communication Skills (also known as The MIC Speakers Lab), dollar-for-dollar, up to $2,500. The MIC is a new initiative, led by faculty member Tracey Sturgal, that allows Marquette students to receive help in all aspects of presentation development, from brainstorming ideas and organizing content to practicing effective delivery. Kevin has already made a generous donation to this initiative, and we are inspired by his continued generosity. Will you join Kevin and make a gift to support The MIC today?

To donate to either the Edward Pepan Scholarship Fund or the Kevin McGavick Fund for Student Development of Interpersonal Communication Skills, visit the Give Marquette Day webpage, click the "GIVE NOW" button, and select the initiative of your choice from the Select a Designation dropdown menu. Diederich College of Communication Giving Challenge, 2018

Give Marquette Day for the Diederich College of Communication last year was a total success. Thanks to the generosity of Marquette parents Phil and Claire Hayes who matched gifts to the Student Media Fund, dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000, the college was able to raise a total of $12,700. Gifts supported the purchase of Virtual Set technology that give students access to leading-edge sets and robotic camera systems.
