About the Business Leaders Forum

Established in 1999, the Business Leaders Forum is a speaker series sponsored by Marquette University’s College of Business Administration. The forum provides a setting for nationally recognized business leaders to engage in discussions and interact with students, faculty and local business leaders. The program enables Marquette to build practical knowledge into its rigorous business curriculum, exploring current trends, issues and practices in business.

Marquette University has attracted leaders at the top of their respective professions to speak at the Business Leaders Forum, including Herbert V. Kohler, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Kohler Co.; Richard M. Schulze, founder and chairman of Best Buy; and James J. Mulva, chairman and CEO of ConocoPhillips. The Kathleen and Frank Thometz Foundation has made the Business Leaders Forum speaker series possible through a special endowment.

About the Lecture

The lecture series is named in honor of the late Theodore F. Marburg, a long-time member of the economics department. The goal of the Marburg Memorial Lecture is to provide a forum for the discussion of moral, philosophical and social dimensions of economic issues, as well as continue Professor Marburg’s commitment to the economic aspects of peace and justice. The Marburg Lecture is made possible by the generosity of the Marburg family and through the support of the Center for Applied Economics.  The Marburg lecture is generally held in November of each year.

About the Series

The June and Herman Loebl Women Business Leader Speaker Series features distinguished women business leaders who have reached the highest levels of achievement and leadership in their professional sphere. They will share their experiences and insights in order to inspire and ignite the Marquette community. This speaker series incorporates a unique blend of presentation and interactive dialogues. In this way, it enables students, faculty, staff, and all of the Marquette University community to interact and engage with renowned women business leaders.

Marquette University’s College of Business Administration has named its Women Business Leaders speaker series in honor of June and Herman Loebl, thanks to a generous gift of $1 million to advance women in leadership within the college. The newly named June and Herman Loebl Women Business Leaders Speaker Series highlights women in business and leadership roles making a difference in the community. Herman Loebl received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Marquette in 1941 and served as chair of the accounting and finance department, director of the MBA program, assistant dean and associate dean during his 38-year career at Marquette. Herman and his wife, June, were deeply committed to making education available to all, in the spirit of the Jesuit mission.
